Cheryl McDonald, MD, TSM President
As President of the Texas Society of Medicine, Cheryl McDonald, MD, brings a deep appreciation for the values that have defined the Society for more than a century: lifelong learning, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to excellence in medicine.
A Fort Worth native and infectious disease specialist, Dr. McDonald has spent her career caring for patients, mentoring colleagues, and serving her community. Her professional journey has taken her from Vanderbilt University and UT Southwestern Medical School to leadership roles in medicine, healthcare, and HIV advocacy. Along the way, she has earned the respect of peers throughout Texas and has been recognized repeatedly among Fort Worth's top physicians.
A longtime TSM member, Dr. McDonald values the unique connections that develop when physicians come together not only to learn, but to share experiences, ideas, and friendships that endure throughout their careers. Together with her husband, fellow TSM member Kevin Connelly, MD, she has enjoyed many years of involvement in the Society and the camaraderie that makes it so special.
When she is not caring for patients, Cheryl enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family...interests that reflect the same curiosity, balance, and sense of community she brings to her leadership of TSM.

The Texas Society of Medicine (TSM) brings together physicians from across adult medicine specialties, including but not limited to: internal medicine, pulmonary, cardiology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, and more. Prospective members may self-nominate through our online application form . All applications are reviewed and voted upon by the Society, a process that ensures membership remains rooted in both excellence and fellowship.

Join us in Santa Fe for one of the most anticipated TSM gatherings of the year, set against the iconic adobe architecture, mountain views, and rich cultural energy of northern New Mexico. Our TSM Discounted Room Block is reserved for September 25–30, 2026, at a discounted room rate of $409.00 per night, plus a $35 daily amenity fee and applicable taxes. Discounted room rates will be available for two nights prior to and two nights following the meeting dates, providing flexibility to arrive early or extend your stay.
