Welcome to the Texas Society of Medicine (TSM)—a professional home for physicians dedicated to advancing excellence in adult medicine while fostering lasting fellowship among colleagues.

Founded in 1924 as the Texas Club of Internists, our organization has grown from a pioneering group of internists into a society that reflects the breadth and depth of modern adult medicine. For more than 100 years, TSM has united outstanding physicians from across Texas, creating a community where professional achievement and meaningful connection go hand in hand.

   Timothy A. Hernandez, MD, TSM President

Dr. Timothy Hernandez serves as President of the Texas Society of Medicine, bringing a steady commitment to professional excellence, collegiality, and statewide engagement. Throughout his career, Dr. Hernandez has championed physician collaboration across specialties and regions, recognizing that meaningful connection strengthens both individual practices and the broader medical community.

As President, he is focused on thoughtful organizational growth, expanding membership, and enhancing opportunities for education and peer exchange. Under his leadership, TSM continues to build momentum—welcoming new members from across Texas while preserving the high standards and fellowship that define the Society.

Dr. Hernandez believes that a strong professional home matters. His vision for TSM centers on fostering leadership, encouraging participation at every career stage, and ensuring the Society remains a vibrant forum for dialogue, learning, and shared purpose.

He is honored to serve and looks forward to continuing the Society’s tradition of excellence and engagement throughout the state.

The Texas Society of Medicine (TSM) brings together physicians from across adult medicine specialties, including but not limited to: internal medicine, pulmonary, cardiology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, and more. Prospective members may self-nominate through our online application form . All applications are reviewed and voted upon by the Society, a process that ensures membership remains rooted in both excellence and fellowship.
